PSG wanted this Tottenham defender

During the last summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain sought to sign a central defender before eventually landing Willian Pacho from Frankfurt for €40 million. However, there was another target in mind.

Pacho, the backup plan? PSG initially pursued a different option before turning to the Ecuadorian. The Parisian club had shown interest in Tottenham defender Cristian Romero.

Tottenham refused to let go

However, Tottenham remained firm, refusing to entertain any discussions about the departure of the Argentine international. The Spurs also turned down offers from Manchester United and Real Madrid. With a contract until 2027, Romero is considered indispensable by manager Ange Postecoglou.
