PSG Misses Out on Mathys Tel, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi Furious

Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the president of PSG, has issued a warning to the recruitment department, according to L’Equipe: there is no room for missing out on talents from the Paris region.

Mathys Tel never played for PSG. Yet, he hailed from Montrouge, just a few kilometers from the Parc des Princes. According to L’Équipe’s report this Friday, PSG’s president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi recently held the responsible parties at the youth academy accountable for the failure to secure the forward.

Recruited by Rennes in 2020 from Montrouge, Tel swiftly moved on to Bayern Munich. Privately, Al-Khelaïfi also admits regret over the departure of Christopher Nkunku, who was transferred for €19.5 million to RB Leipzig in 2019, despite the talented French international having the potential for a major role in Paris.

And NAK is determined not to let history repeat itself. The change in direction last summer, highlighting youth development and the recruitment of Luis Enrique, is evidence of this.

Just like Warren Zaïre Emery, Senny Mayulu (17 years old), and Yoram Zague (17 years old), who are expected to see a significant increase in playing time in the coming months. The Parisian coach regularly integrates players from the youth academy, following the club’s recommendations.

Ayman Kari (19 years old), after his loan spell at Lorient, is also expected to be part of this select group of youngsters who will have their place at PSG.
