According to Foot Mercato, Kylian Mbappé had allegedly promised to extend his contract before the start of the season, to return to the group. But his camp denies it.

The news that Kylian Mbappé had informed Paris Saint-Germain president, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, of his decision to leave the club at the end of his contract this summer, was circulated within PSG back in February. However, it has not been officially confirmed yet.

Nevertheless, to exit the stalemate he found himself in at the beginning of the summer, Mbappé had allegedly made the promise… to extend his contract.

Mbappé Asks PSG « Not to Bid Higher »

According to Foot Mercato, Kylian Mbappé « had a meeting with Nasser al-Khelaïfi on the eve of the match against FC Lorient, last August 12th (0-0) ». During this meeting, he had (allegedly) « promised his president to extend his contract (…) On several occasions, the main interested party reiterated to Nasser Al-Khelaïfi his desire to extend ».

However, PSG was allegedly caught off guard afterward when Mbappé signed with Real Madrid for next summer. « This turn of events logically sparked the anger of the Parisian boss. After several years of hesitation, reflection, or retraction, Kylian Mbappé indeed announced his definitive choice to Nasser al-Khelaïfi, who had previously done everything to convince him to stay and extend ». Mbappé even reportedly asked PSG « not to bid higher ».

Mbappé Camp Denies

Bilel Ghazi, the former journalist now close to Mbappé’s camp and notably his mother, Fayza Lamari, however, denies it.

On Twitter, he writes: « Beyond your chain of false truths, what is embarrassing about this one is its timing, which raises questions about your motivation and that of those who dictate to you and who regret/fear not doing as well… PSG & its end of the season deserve better than this… », he indicated.
