Mbappé Forgoes PSG Bonuses… But Could Retrieve Them
Kylian Mbappé struck a deal with PSG last summer: bonuses were abandoned.
The figures are staggering. Kylian Mbappé reportedly gave up €80 million in bonuses last summer in exchange for not extending his contract. It’s a win-win deal for PSG, saving a significant amount of money and avoiding financial strain if the player decides to leave for free. However, this deal stipulates that these bonuses haven’t completely vanished.
According to Ben Jacobs, a transfer market specialist, Kylian Mbappé did indeed forgo around €100 million but could reclaim them. « Kylian Mbappe agreed to give up €70-80m if he leaves PSG for free. The agreement is variable and complicated. Not as simple as just reducing his loyalty bonus, although one payment has already been canceled. If Mbappé stays, he will be entitled to these bonuses, » asserts this source.
Le Parisien confirms that if Mbappé ultimately decides to extend his contract with PSG, he will receive this money as well as a « significant increase » in the form of a signing bonus.
On the sidelines of the Trophée des Champions, Kylian Mbappé mentioned a deal with PSG that « protects all parties and preserves the club’s serenity for the challenges ahead. » This also includes the initial deal.
