Lyon: Thiago Motta Has No Desire to Replace Laurent Blanc
OL is on the verge of parting ways with its coach, Laurent Blanc, following a disastrous start to the season.
The end is near, and Laurent Blanc is expected to be let go by OL soon. Marcelo Gallardo was reportedly approached by the Lyon club, but he declined the offer, despite being a free agent. Thiago Motta (currently at Bologna) and Will Still (Reims) are being considered by Lyon’s management. Bruno Lage, who has been a target for weeks, will not be coming.
Laurent Blanc is expected to stay in his position until OL finds a replacement, which could take some time.
However, according to France Bleu and journalist Bruno Salomon, Thiago Motta has already ruled himself out. Salomon wrote on Twitter, « I read this morning that Thiago Motta was in Lyon’s sights. After checking with his entourage, it is ‘impossible’ for the Italian coach, who is ‘very happy at Bologna,’ to join OL this season. »
