L’Equipe reveals the alleged content of the formal letter sent by Kylian Mbappé a few days ago, informing the club of his intention not to extend his contract. The response from PSG has been disclosed.
« In its three-page letter, PSG first explains that its desire has always been to see Mbappé continue while ensuring that, at the agreed time, they would favorably respond to a transfer request, » reports L’Equipe.
The club mentions the « enormous harm » caused by Mbappé’s initial letter and the public revelation of its contents. PSG highlights the « damages caused » by the announcement « that you would be free in June 2024, » as stated in the letter.
PSG emphasizes the massive financial investment made and explains that such amounts « can only be justified by a future transfer or continuity beyond June 30, 2024, as agreed between us. »
« After conveying this message, the PSG management felt the need to address the player’s reproaches, particularly regarding the 2022 transfer window. ‘It is true that we also discussed a very ambitious recruitment that we could only partially achieve due to the market conditions and French and European regulatory constraints,’ continues L’Equipe.
« These conditions were completely beyond our control, but despite that, we tried to meet your demands, contrary to what we would have done for any other player without being detrimental to the club, » PSG stated, while questioning the timing of a letter signed on July 12, 2022, in the midst of the summer transfer market, highlighting « a lack of sincerity in this position » from Mbappé.
PSG has indeed set a deadline of July 31 for Mbappé to extend his contract. Failure to do so will result in his sale.
