After a season at PSV Eindhoven, Xavi Simons is back at Paris Saint-Germain until 2027, as announced by PSG on Wednesday.
Xavi Simons is returning to PSG, but not for long. The Dutch attacking midfielder has signed a four-season contract. However, he will be loaned to the German club RB Leipzig for the 2023-2024 season.
Born in Amsterdam on April 21, 2003, Xavi Simons signed his first professional contract when he joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2019 from FC Barcelona’s youth academy. He made his first-team debut for PSG in February 2021 during a Coupe de France match against SM Caen.
In July 2022, after making 11 appearances in all competitions and providing 1 assist for PSG, the Dutch attacking midfielder joined PSV Eindhoven. He had an exceptional season with the Dutch club, scoring 22 goals and providing 12 assists in 48 matches. He was notably crowned joint top scorer in Eredivisie with 19 goals and won the Dutch Super Cup and the Dutch Cup.
Xavi Simons’ performances earned him a call-up to the Netherlands national team, and he made his debut during the FIFA World Cup 2022 Round of 16 match against the United States in Qatar.
