Arnau Tenas, currently the third-choice goalkeeper at Paris Saint-Germain, has made some surprising revelations about his departure from FC Barcelona.
Tenas, who joined PSG in the summer of 2023 alongside Ousmane Dembélé, Gonçalo Ramos, and Randal Kolo Muani, admits he was reluctant to leave his boyhood club.
Despite his success with the Spanish national team, including winning a gold medal at the 2024 Olympics, Tenas expressed regret that Barcelona didn’t offer him more opportunities. He revealed in an interview with SER Catalunya, « I would have signed any contract. I would have stayed and even accepted a loan elsewhere if I wasn’t going to be in the first team. I don’t understand why this didn’t happen. They didn’t put an offer on the table for me to accept or decline. »
Tenas also shared the emotional toll of his departure. « It was tough because when they told me, I was alone with the national team, focused on the U21 Euro. I didn’t want my teammates to see me affected. I was alone in my room between matches, but what I went through gave me a lot of strength. » Despite these challenges, Tenas is now content in Paris. « I didn’t expect to be so happy in Paris. I love it here. I didn’t expect to settle into a club so quickly. People have treated me very well, and I learned the language very fast. »
