PSG will have to cope without Warren Zaïre Emery for several weeks. His replacement in midfield could be none other than Marquinhos.
The PSG will be without Warren Zaïre Emery until 2024, marking the unfortunate news of the weekend. The player is suffering from a sprained ankle with ligament damage. This means he will miss matches against Monaco and, more significantly, against Newcastle and Dortmund.
Luis Enrique will now have to find solutions to fill the void. One potential option is Fabian Ruiz. However, according to L’Equipe, the Spanish coach has privately expressed in the past few hours that he is not worried and has the necessary resources to compensate for Zaïre Emery’s absence.
One plausible solution could be moving Marquinhos up the field, a strategy previously employed by Thomas Tuchel a few years ago. In defense, Lucas Hernandez and Milan Skriniar could potentially play together, or Danilo; and Presnel Kimpembe is also set to make his return.
