Will PSG’s Sponsors Jump Ship after Messi and Neymar’s Departure?
With Messi and Neymar gone, there are questions arising regarding PSG’s sponsors.
According to L’Equipe, companies like Crypto.com, for instance, signed a three-year contract with the Parisian club shortly after Messi’s arrival, amounting to approximately 8.5 million euros annually. Their offer was significantly increased to associate with Messi, and his departure naturally raises concerns.
« This cryptocurrency company had increased its initial offer for Messi by around three times. With one year left in their contract, they wish to renegotiate their financial commitment. Negotiations are underway, » reports L’Equipe.
But that’s not all. PSG is reportedly dealing with payment delays. Sponsors like Aspetar, Ooredoo, and Qatar Airways, despite being Qatari sponsors, seem to be struggling to meet their financial obligations to the club.
PSG is also behind schedule regarding sponsors for the back of their jerseys and naming the new training center in Poissy. L’Equipe further points out that ticket resale has significantly declined since Neymar and Messi’s departures. While Parc des Princes still appears to be sold out, tourists are not as willing to pay a premium to watch PSG without the two former stars.
