Why Luis Enrique Didn't Celebrate PSG's Ligue 1 Title

In the latest episode of the documentary *Xana*, which focuses on Luis Enrique and airs on Movistar Plus+, the Spanish coach reflects on a significant moment of his season with Paris Saint-Germain: his decision not to celebrate the Ligue 1 title.

PSG clinched the championship on April 28, 2024, following a disappointing match that ended in a draw against Le Havre, coupled with AS Monaco’s defeat to Lyon. Although this should have been a moment of satisfaction for Luis Enrique, he chose not to participate in the public celebrations at the Parc des Princes on May 12, especially after the team suffered a 3-1 loss to Toulouse.

In the documentary, he shares that while he did celebrate privately with his staff in late April, he opted out of the official festivities on that day. « It was a lamentable match in my opinion. I didn’t even celebrate the title. It’s strange; it’s the title I’ve celebrated the least in my career. I was so angry that I could have broken the podium that day. I don’t have a single photo with the trophy, not one. What do you want? I’m not perfect. I’m a competitor, and for me, that day was garbage, » he admitted.
