PSG’s Stadium Plans in Yvelines Could Be Dropped
PSG is in search of a location for its future stadium, and the site in Montigny Le Bretonneux doesn’t seem to be the favored choice.
With the possibility of the PSG having to bid farewell to the Parc des Princes, as the mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo declared the subject « closed » regarding its sale, the club now faces the task of constructing its new stadium.
However, where? In recent weeks, the Montigny Le Bretonneux option has been brought to light since last January. « A realistic option, » according to the mayor of the city.
But journalist Achille Ash holds a different opinion. He suggests that the chances of PSG building its stadium in Montigny Le Bretonneux are very slim. « Other, more credible options are being favored, » asserts this source, without specifying the reasons for this declining option.
Upon closer examination, the reasons seem logical: the distance from Paris, underdeveloped transport infrastructure to handle crowds of 60,000 to 80,000 people, and in terms of prestige, Montigny Le Bretonneux does not compare to Paris or Boulogne.
In recent years, PSG had been considering other sites as well: the Auteuil racecourse, the Saint Cloud racecourse, or even La Défense. PSG President Nasser al-Khelaïfi mentioned « at least three, if not four » options for the future stadium.
