PSG’s Marquinhos and Zaïre Emery Unveil the New Ligue 1 Trophy

Ligue 1 has introduced a new trophy, replacing the « hexagoal » and marking a shift in its visual identity.

The monstrous, unattractive hexagoal is now history. After PSG secured their 12th French championship title at the end of the 2023/2024 season, they lifted the hexagoal for the last time.

The new trophy, made of gold with a classic design, features a smooth ball supported by four legs shaped like the number « 1, » symbolizing Ligue 1. The base of the trophy is engraved with the names of past champions dating back to 1932/1933. Its design bears a resemblance to the World Cup trophy, though it is undoubtedly far more elegant than its predecessor.

The new Ligue 1 McDonald’s Trophy, designed by French artist Mathias Kiss in collaboration with Maison Christofle, is part of the 2024 rebranding of Ligue 1. This symbol of victory stands out with its hexagonal base engraved with the champions’ records since 1932/33, columns representing the top finishers, and a golden sphere on top. Measuring 54 cm in height and weighing under 10 kg, the trophy will be awarded for the first time in May 2025 to the French champions. The official name of the trophy will be revealed soon.
