OM/PSG: PSG Supporters Banned Due to « Animosity » Risk
Olympique de Marseille and Paris Saint-Germain will face off at the Orange Vélodrome during the Clasico in Ligue 1 in 10 days. However, PSG supporters will not be allowed to attend.
No support for PSG at the Vélodrome. Highlighting the « animosity » between the supporters of the two rival clubs « for many years, » Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau believes there is « a real and serious risk of confrontation. »
« From midnight to midnight on Sunday, October 27, 2024, the individual or collective movement, by any means, of any person claiming to be a supporter of Paris Saint-Germain or behaving as such is prohibited between the municipalities of the Île-de-France region, on the one hand, and the municipality of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), on the other, » reads the official document.
« A portion of law enforcement, deprived of rest throughout the Olympic Games period, has had to be placed on rest, thereby reducing the available resources, » the minister further stated. Since April 2015, Parisian supporters have been banned from traveling to Marseille. OM fans have not been able to attend matches at the Parc des Princes since 2018.
