Kylian Mbappé, in an interview with France Football on June 12th, believes that PSG no longer suits his status.
According to Mbappé, PSG has become too small for him. In his interview with France Football, conducted before he sent the infamous letter to the club stating that he would not be extending his contract, Mbappé feels that his performances are not adequately valued in France and at PSG. « Do people take my performances for granted? Yes, but at the same time, I don’t blame them, » he says. « In France, people have seen me grow, they see me every week at PSG or with the national team. And I have been scoring a lot for years. So, for people, it becomes normal. »
He adds, « I have never complained that my performances are taken for granted. I am young, and I had the chance to be an observer not so long ago before becoming an actor. And even I used to take for granted what Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and other great players were doing. »
« We live in a consumer society where the mentality is ‘you’re doing well, but do even better.’ And being right next door in Paris… I think playing for PSG doesn’t help much because it’s a divisive team, a divisive club. So, of course, it attracts criticism, but it doesn’t bother me because I know what I’m doing and how I’m doing it. »
