Kylian Mbappé caught everyone, including PSG, off guard with his departure announcement on Friday.
The PSG striker’s unexpected farewell message, published around 8 p.m. on Friday, left many surprised, especially the club itself. According to L’Equipe, PSG was not informed in advance about Mbappé’s decision. The club discovered the announcement simultaneously with the public, including its contents where Mbappé thanked numerous individuals but omitted mentioning President Nasser al-Khelaïfi, with whom relations are reportedly strained.
Internally, since February, Al-Khelaïfi had allegedly proposed paying tribute to Mbappé. However, it seems there may be no such acknowledgment during Sunday evening’s PSG-Toulouse match, which marks Mbappé’s farewell at Parc des Princes.
