French national team Coach Addresses Mbappé’s Mental Health
Didier Deschamps remains confident about Kylian Mbappé, despite a mixed end to the season with PSG.
It’s going to be alright for the Euro. Kylian Mbappé, the Paris Saint-Germain forward, has experienced a less sparkling period towards the end of the season. With a decrease in playing time and lackluster performances, questions have emerged about his form and impact. However, the coach of the French national team, Didier Deschamps, remains calm about the state of his captain.
The relationship between Deschamps and Mbappé goes beyond the professional realm. The coach knows the player well, his qualities, and his mindset. That’s why, despite the recent setbacks at the club level, Deschamps doesn’t seem worried about the future of his captain in the national team.
« I Regularly Exchange with Kylian »
« Until February, everything was fine, » the French coach recalled in an interview with RTL. « He didn’t experience what he was used to experiencing. I regularly exchange with Kylian, but he has the ability to manage situations. For support, he has family who are very close to him. He is a human being. He’s coming off a ‘bad’ season with 44 goals… »
« His body and mind were used to playing every match from start to finish. So with the pace since late February, these are new factors that can have consequences psychologically and even physically. It’s new, he wasn’t used to it. But here, it’s a different context. The functioning is different. Because of who he is, what he represents, and his responsibility as captain, he is fully involved in our objective, » reassured Deschamps ahead of the Euro.
