In an interview with L’Equipe, Leonardo unleashes his criticism of Kylian Mbappé and openly defends PSG in their conflict.

The former sporting director of PSG, Leonardo, stated, « For the good of PSG, I believe the time has come for Mbappé to leave, no matter how it happens. Paris Saint-Germain existed before Kylian Mbappé, and it will exist after him. » This statement comes from the Brazilian, who was ousted last year to make way for Mbappé’s close associate, Luis Campos.

« With his behavior over the past two years, Mbappé has shown that he is not yet a player capable of truly leading a team. He is a great player but not a leader. He is a great goal scorer but not a creator. It’s difficult to build a team around him, » added Leonardo.

It is evident from Leonardo’s remarks that he believes Mbappé’s departure would be beneficial for PSG, questioning the player’s ability to be a guiding force and suggesting that his style of play doesn’t lend itself to being the centerpiece of a team.
