Clash at PSG: Players Demand a Big Bonus, Al-Khelaïfi Refuses
L’Équipe reports on Monday a major issue of unpaid collective bonuses at Paris Saint-Germain. Marquinhos has reportedly taken a stand for the group.
In the midst of a financial conflict with Kylian Mbappé, PSG finds itself confronted with its responsibilities… by all the other players. According to L’Équipe, the entire group is demanding collective bonuses for the past season, after winning the French championship, the Trophée des Champions, and reaching the Champions League round of 16.
The amount in question is €300,000 for each player who participated in the 2022-2023 season. According to L’Équipe, the players have still not received these bonuses. Several sources confirmed to L’Équipe that Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the president of PSG, never validated this commitment and therefore did not make the payments.
L’Équipe highlights that the club relies on the fact that no official document confirming the bonus scale has been established. The verbal agreement reached during discussions between the locker room representatives and the sports management is not enough to convince the club’s management to pay the bonuses.
Marquinhos, the team captain, has repeatedly expressed the group’s dissatisfaction with this breach of the agreement. According to L’Équipe, the PSG president has not taken well to the team’s poor performance last season.
