In an interview with Globo, Leonardo, the former director of PSG, believes that PSG still has work to do to win the Champions League.
Manchester City was in a similar position to PSG until last June. Since then, Paris has been somewhat alone among these « big clubs » without a Champions League title. According to Leonardo, there’s an explanation for this. « The Champions League isn’t easy to win. Manchester City just won it after 15 years of effort. It’s a combination of things, teams like Real Madrid, Milan, Manchester United, these teams, if they’re in a good or average moment, everything happens naturally. »
« The players want to go to these clubs, the media wants to talk about these clubs. They have infinitely more fans than other clubs. These stadiums have traditions infinitely superior to those of other clubs. All of this is already in place, it exists, it’s an established thing. »
« It’s already difficult to enter this elite group. Of course, not having won it is a bit like having a ball and chain attached to your ankle. But PSG is already among those who can win it, » he said.
