Neymar’s family has stepped in to aid Dani Alves in reducing his prison sentence following his conviction for sexual assault.

Despite being found guilty of assaulting a young woman in a Barcelona nightclub on December 30, 2022, the former PSG and Barcelona full-back Dani Alves has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison by the Barcelona court.

While the prosecution had sought a nine-year sentence and the victim demanded 12 years, a suicide prevention protocol has been implemented due to Alves’s psychological state in detention. Additionally, he has been ordered to pay €150,000 in compensation to the victim and faces nine years of restraining order and five years of probation.

In a surprising turn, Neymar’s family has reportedly intervened to support Dani Alves. According to UOL, Neymar’s family has provided legal representation through Gustavo Xisto, one of Neymar Sr.’s longstanding legal representatives.

Alves has already paid €150,000, with assistance from Neymar’s family, and this payment has contributed to reducing his sentence to four and a half years. Termed as « mitigation for reparations, » this payment has played a significant role in alleviating Alves’s sentence, as per UOL’s report.
