Hazard Responds to Cristiano Ronaldo’s Criticism and Explains His PSG Rejection
Recently, Cristiano Ronaldo made critical remarks about Ligue 1, which didn’t sit well with Eden Hazard, who rose to prominence at Lille.
« I disagree with him, but it’s just an opinion. The fact is, if you look at the Saudi Arabian league today, there are great players. But they’re not great teams, » defended the former Lille player.
« In France, there may be fewer star players, but they form more of a team. I’m sure that if a Ligue 1 team plays against a team from Saudi Arabia, they will win. Perhaps not as easily as people think, but I believe so. The level in France is good. I watch the French league, and they have talent, they have young players, they can play football. Paris is a city with a lot of potential. The level is there, » continued Hazard, speaking on the podcast of his former Chelsea teammate, John Obi Mikel.
It Was Lille or Nothing
Hazard then discussed why he didn’t join PSG in 2011. « Paris was the only club pressuring me every summer to sign when I was at Chelsea. I always said that my club in France was Lille. I had no intention of going to another club. »
« I was always clear with PSG. There was no question of joining them. I love football. I love the fans, and when I say something, I stick to it. Money doesn’t come into play. It’s good to have money, of course, but it’s not like I needed that money. I don’t care, » concluded Eden Hazard.
