Former Paris Saint-Germain coach Arthur Jorge, who served from 1991 to 1994 and then from 1998 to 1999, has passed away this Thursday at the age of 78 after a long illness.

A former Portuguese striker and international player born in Porto, he left a mark in France through his coaching stints at Matra Racing (1987-1989), PSG where he won a French league title in 1994, and Créteil (2006-2007). Throughout his career, the Lusitanian also managed Benfica, Porto, and the Portuguese national team.

« It is with deep sadness that the family of Artur Jorge announces his passing this morning in Lisbon, after a long illness. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his closest family, » his entourage stated in an official announcement.
