Anti-Suicide Measures Activated for Dani Alves in Prison
The Spanish justice system is taking precautions for Dani Alves amid concerns over his mental well-being: the Brazilian, accused of rape, has been placed under anti-suicide surveillance.
Since January 2023, Alves has been behind bars following allegations of sexual assault in late December 2022 within the confines of a nightclub restroom. As he awaits the verdict of his trial, his fellow inmate, interviewed by Spanish television, reveals that Alves is grappling with profound psychological distress.
« Since the trial commenced, he has shown signs of depression and appears despondent. Prison educators and staff are offering him support. A suicide prevention protocol has been initiated as a precautionary measure, implemented immediately upon his return from court to mitigate any potential self-harm or reckless behavior, » disclosed the cellmate of the Brazilian defender.
It’s important to note that the former FC Barcelona player could face up to nine years of imprisonment if convicted.
