FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has confirmed rejecting a staggering €250 million offer for Lamine Yamal this summer, though he didn’t reveal the bidding club’s identity.

Was the rumor true? According to the Spanish news agency EFE, the equivalent of AFP, Paris Saint-Germain indeed made a bold attempt to sign Lamine Yamal, Barça’s rising star, just before the Euro tournament. The offer aimed to make Yamal the most expensive player in history. However, Barcelona quickly declined, stating that Yamal was not for sale, as the club views him as the next Messi.

« A Club Approached Me »

A few weeks later, Barça confirmed the bid… but without naming PSG. « A club came to me offering €250 million for Lamine, and I said no, » Laporta revealed on Barça’s official podcast, *Barça One*, released on Thursday. « He’s the most popular player in the world right now. What’s Lamine’s true value? Well, it’s not reflected in any accounting figures, » Laporta added.

The 17-year-old Spanish international, with 17 caps to his name, is contracted with Barça until June 2026. His deal, signed in 2023, includes a €1 billion release clause.
