Transfers of Verratti or Draxler Under UEFA Scrutiny, Threat to PSG
During this transfer window, PSG sold three players to Qatari clubs: these transactions are under UEFA scrutiny.
Marco Verratti to Al-Arabi for €50 million, Julian Draxler to Al-Ahli for €9 million, and Abdou Diallo to Al-Arabi for €15 million. Three miraculous sales that UEFA will closely examine.
According to L’Équipe, UEFA may have something to say about these deals. PSG is owned by QSI, a Qatari investment fund, and clubs in Qatar all have more or less close ties to the state. Therefore, they are considered transfers between « related parties. »
UEFA could decide to devalue these transfers in the club’s accounts when calculating Financial Fair Play. PSG has already responded, stating: « There is no problem. QSI is not a shareholder of the buying clubs, and the three players were sold at market prices, » the club explained to the sports daily.
